Membership with Vancouver Paranormal

Presently Vancouver Paranormal has reached its membership limitations. Too many people in the group and it gets harder to get everyone out to an investigation. We thank all those who have expressed an interest in our group and hope we may be able to take you on in the future.

We are always looking for new members to replace those valued members that have moved out of the area or have career obligations that no longer allow for the time our endeavours require. In order to participate in the investigations, a member must be attending or meeting our optional requirements monthly. If a month should pass and the member has missed all optional opportunities then their membership is revoked.

We are now once again open on a limited basis to people wanting to be "COMMITTED" and active members. Please email me should you wished to participate-a link has been provided at the bottom of this page-please read it carefully. It is the first agreement between you and I in your steps to becoming a member of Vancouver Paranormal.

Vancouver Paranormal is a intensely active and structured group. We are often busy two or three times a week with investigations, optionals and social events. Please do not apply to this group if your interest in "ghost hunting" is casual and not a priority or if your life demands constant changes

While a member of Vancouver Paranormal is not expected to participate in every event the circumstances of paranormal investigation dictate that we are usually out late and often responding to someone as quickly as it is humanly possible-we need members who have that freedom of movement.

The potential member is required to specify which events they do want to attend and also those events they cannot attend-on acceptance you will be sent to a communication and private area which you will be required to bookmark. This is imperative--Logistics regarding space, transportation and other considerations all have to be dealt with and as primary planner I do need to know.

This group is NOT for the person who has to shuffle a large and hectic social life or family life, uncertain employment schedules (shift work etc) or civic or other voluntary obligations. It won't work.

THIS IS ALSO NOT FOR THE PERSON WHO DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH SLACKERS IN THE PAST-WE DON'T NEED MORE! If you cannot respond in appropriate fashion to updates then don't waste my time or yours.

Eligibility for Membership Section 1-Subject only to the specific conditions stated hereinafter, any person of good moral character who has an interest in the paranormal is eligible for membership. Regarding our membership.

A. All Core Members must be at least twenty (20) years of age and have a valid ID issued by their country of residence. Canadian or United States Citizen.

B. He/she must fill out an Application for Membership.

C. He/she must attend a brief ten (10) minute one-on-one interview prior to acceptance in Vancouver Paranormal. This may be a performed on-line/telephone if the situation dictate.

D. He/she must attend all mandatory annual meetings. Socials and optionals are at the member's discretion...provided too many are not missed.

E. He/She has some form of recording equipment: camera or tape recorder and is fully cognisant of the protocols as outlined on our protocol page.

Section 2.No person shall be eligible for membership/Or shall have it revoked if:
A. He/she refuses to follow established protocols of Vancouver Paranormal.
B. There is reason to believe that he/she may not adhere to and abide by the By-Laws and our rules and regulations. (IE)Is argumentative or does not "play nice" with others. Is defiant or refuses to follows directions on optionals or Internal investigations. Does not hand in materials in a prompt and satisfactory manner. Does not acknowledge emails asking for feedback. Does not see the team as a whole unit. Seeks the limelight excessively-*needs to be the star-does not allow for others to have an opinion.
C. He/she advocates or displays through their actions or inaction hatred based on race, religion, sex, sexual preference, nationality or class.
D. His/her attendance to meetings, Field Excursions, Specials or Haunted House investigations falls below par.

E. He/she attends a investigative function/or optional training under the influence of alcohol or illegal controlled substances.
F. He/she behaves in any fashion that might endanger themselves, other members, clients or the public in general while with the team of Vancouver Paranormal.
G. He/She participates in unauthorized activity or encourages other members to participate in same. (IE) Unsanctioned ghost hunts-private ghost hunts of their own creation.
H. He/She does not fulfil communication response as needed.
I. He/She uses our time and energy and training to create another group. Just bad manners.
J. He/She is careless about personal hygiene.

Choosing new members for Vancouver Paranormal has become a team function. The new member needs to be able to get along with all members. Our older members are also curious about newer members or more correctly potential members. When we have three or four people indicating interest we will have an open easy going discussion regarding your interest with other members of the group. You will not be quizzed on ghost hunting knowledge (as there are as many theories about ghost hunting as there are groups)but just generally how you see yourself adding to the team and your overall theories and ideas etc. We promise that it will be short and sweet and that you have nothing to fear or agonize over.
