Surface Finish Preparation: This shot shows one of the finished shells, with a coat of texture applied. This texture is from one of those "rock texture" spray kits that comes with one can of texture and one can of clear finish. You wouldn't be able to use this stuff on bare foam (the foam would melt), but with a covering of joint compound it works just fine. At this point, I want to explain at length a technique for applying paint (by hand) for a realistic looking stone surface. So many people ask time and time again, "how can I make the surface look real?". It's really quite simple. |
