White On Black

Clean the black off the sponge with fresh, clean water. Now, dip the sponge in the white (base) paint and do the same process as you did with the black. By now, some portions of the black are dryer than others, and when mixed with this layer of white, gray immediately pops out. I worked the surface being cognizant of applying more white to those areas most exposed, and laying off those places less exposed.

Again, this means high ridges and prominences are more whitish, whereas crevices and cracks are much darker. The in-between areas are an in-between shade of gray. Pretty simple... and the results are striking.
