For the frame of Freddy, we used pvc pipe cut roughly into a human shape and
the various pieces glued together. This had an advantage over lumber in that it was
easier to pose into a realistic human shape. I covered the frame in a red and gray striped
shirt picked up at Goodwill.
For the animatronic motor, we used an old oscillating fan (from Goodwill)
The cage for the fan is removed and the fan blade is removed. The axle that the
fan blade uses was cut off with a hacksaw. To prevent the remaining stub of the axle
from catching the rubber mask, a cap from a pill bottle was superglued over the stub of the axle.
(Making sure that the axle stub doesnt rub against the cap and the superglue doesn't go into the fan motor.)
The mask and Freddy glove was purchased at "SPENCERS" AFTER Halloween.
(Masks and costumes are OVER 1/2 off!! Stock up for next year!!)
I beleive the entire animatronic cost me under $50. What a bargin!
PVC Pipe = $10, Mask and Glove = $20, Oscillating Fan = $10, Clothes = $10
