Long before the film there was the written word. Long before we settled down in
front of video or now DVD players for our fright-fests, we would read tales of
terror by candlelight.
For most, this has been lost, however there are still those that prefer the pages
to celluloid or even both and why not?
This section then is for you. To help you to search through the rubbish and find
stories worth your time to read. If you're an avid reader of horror novels then
why not join 'Castle Dracula' as an official 'staff member' reviewing them.

- Bram Stoker's Dracula - The Movie Adaptation -
- Fred Saberhagen and James V. Hart -

Who or what is Dracula? He could be a man, a bat, a wolf, mist or a vampire or
even a protector of his church. Call him what you may.
Let me take you back to Eastern Europe, 1462.
Prince Dracula was a knight of the Church, a member of the Order of the Dragon.
A sacred order sworn to protect the church from the enemies of the cross of
Christ. He fought a long, weary battle to defend his homeland against the Turks.
Much terror and blood was spilled.
His Princess often dreamed violent dreams of her love. She would wake crying
and screaming. She awoke one morning to hear the sound of an arrow going through
her window with a note attached. It told her Prince Dracula had been killed (or
so she thought). She went went into utter maddness. She looked out into the land
and river below and jumped. She died, wet and broken on the rock's.
Dracula arrived home hours later only to find Elisabeth dead, noone would attend
to her. Priest's told him what she did was a sin and her soul would be damned.
Dracula renounced the church and destroyed everything in sight.
Four hundred years later, though it seemed much longer to him, he left. There
was too many memories there.
He bought land and a home in London. Johnathon Harker helped to arrange it.
Dracula saw a picture of Harkers love Mena. Memories came flooding back to his
love, Elisabeth. He knew he wanted Mena and would get her any way he could.
He kept Harker in his castle, only to torture him. Little did Harker know
Dracula was befriending Mena.
Mena was scared at first with Dracula but she became interested in him.
Much later Harker found a way of leaving the torture and hopelesness behind.
He was helped by nun's to recover and go back to Mena.
Mena spent many day's with the Count, getting to know him and even having feelings
for him. She received a note from Harker, he was coming home. They were married.
Dracula was devestated. He went back to his old home.
Mena was torn between both men.
Life and love sure has a way of controlling your heart and mind.
If you want to find out what happened to them, read the book or check out
the movie. Both are great. I would recommend them both.
Its a tale of humanity, love and despair. Something we can all relate to.
