Long before the film there was the written word. Long before we settled down in
front of video or now DVD players for our fright-fests, we would read tales of
terror by candlelight.
For most, this has been lost, however there are still those that prefer the pages
to celluloid or even both and why not?
This section then is for you. To help you to search through the rubbish and find
stories worth your time to read. If you're an avid reader of horror novels then

- The Sorority Trilogy: Merilyn (Book 2) -
- Tamara Thorne -

FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK:
At exclusive, isolated 'Greenbriar University,' within the elite "Gamma Eta Pi" Sorority,
is a secret society known as the "Fata Morgana." Its members are the most powerful
women on campus-and the deadliest. For this is a sisterhood of evil, a centuries-old
coven, and every girl who pledges herself to their wicked decadence does so for life
or death.
An Initiation Into Terror
An old soul - that's what everyone calls dreamy, mystical 'Merilynn,' since childhood,
she's had a sixth sense she can't explain, an ability to see things before they happen.
Her psychic gifts tell her there's a tremendous darkness at work inside the shadowy
walls of her sorority house - a feeling that intensifies when 'Malory Thomas' invites
her to become one with the "Fata Morgana." Now, drawn into the ever-tightening,
unnatural circle of its sisterhood, 'Merilynn's' dreams grow more alarming night by
night, showing maddening glimpses of an evil, timeless bond stretching back through
centuries of blood, sacrifice and sexual magic. Soon 'Merilynn' wonders whether this
is a vision of the past ~ or a warning of very bad things to come.....

THE REVIEW:
Tamara Thorne's "Sorority Trilogy" focuses on three girls - 'Eve,' 'Samantha' and
'Merilynn' - all with different personalities and different purposes. To make it
easier, I will include this paragraph with each review in the series, as it applies
to all. All three books begin by placing the girls in "Applehead Lake" together,
when they were younger, then continues from there with their individual stories.
They are now older, meeting up again for the first time since they lost touch.
Each of the novels uses several POV's, but the main focus of this one is obviously
'Merilynn.' 'Eve' is also there as before, but from an altered role; 'Kendra' the
roommate has now buddied up more with 'Merilynn' and aides in uncovering some of
"Greenbriar's" deep dark secrets. 'Holly,' 'Malory,' 'Brittany,' 'Sam' (not mentioned
as much yet) and 'Professor Picollo' are still present as well.
The plot has kicked off some more, revealing some juicy tidbits, turning out more
exciting than the first simply because more is happening. The reader is in the middle
of several climax's, and all stakes have been upped.
'Merilynn' is a lot different than 'Eve' in personality. She doesn't worry as much
about blending in; she's a "Wiccan" with a checkered background who's curious in
nature and won't stop without finding the truth. She's less naïve than 'Eve' was,
with a more intelligent outlook in handling conflicting situations. I enjoyed
reading through 'Merilynn's' eyes more than I did with her blonde, cheerleading
friend. Something about her was easier to latch onto.
As before, Tamara Thorne continues to whip up a light offering of a story; much
humor is present, the vocabulary and sentence structure remain simple, and again
this story is good as a young adult series.
The second novel in the series is preferred over the original; more sides of the
characters are shown, more things are revealed plot-wise, and more complications
pop up. 'Merilynn' is a great sequel to the original, heightening the anticipation
for the third.
