Long before the film there was the written word. Long before we settled down in
front of video or now DVD players for our fright-fests, we would read tales of
terror by candlelight.
For most, this has been lost, however there are still those that prefer the pages
to celluloid or even both and why not?
This section then is for you. To help you to search through the rubbish and find
stories worth your time to read. If you're an avid reader of horror novels then
why not join 'Castle Dracula' as an official 'staff member' reviewing them.

Richard Laymon author of 30 novels and 65 short stories, Winner of the Bram Stoker
award for "The Traveling Vampire Show" (which is a great book!) Has written another
Horror novel "Night In The Lonesome October".
In the Fall at Willmington University an ambitious young student, Ed Logan receives
a letter from his girlfriend ending their relationship. Heartbroken, Ed decides to
take a long walk on a cool October night. He is brought into a whole new world, a
world of darkness and fear. Strange people chasing him through dark alleys, a
psychotic killer out to get him and his new love interest Eileen, and cannibals
looking for a late night snack.
The characters Ed Logan meets, like 'Casey' an attractive fearless young girl who
teaches him about living in the night world, similiar to Shara in Barry Hoffmans'
"Hungry Eyes" and the character 'Kirkus' who befriends Ed and becomes his greatest
ally, to the psychotic malicious 'Randy' who sends them running through the night
pushing them to their limits and testing their strengths and weaknesses in the
most cruel manner.
These characters take you for a night ride you won't forget, from the decaying foul
smell from under the cannibals bridge, to the screams from the alley ways in town!
Long time fans of Laymon and new comers will enjoy the "Night In The Lonesome October".
Other recommended readings by Richard Laymon: 'The Traveling Vampire Show' and 'Bite'.
