- Limited Edition 12" 'Frankenstein' From 'Son Of Frankenstein' Figure -

Along with 'Dracula,' 'The Mummy,' 'The Creature From The Black Lagoon,' 'The
Wolf Man' and 'The Invisible Man,' 'Frankenstein' has become synomonous with
the term "horror."
Of all of these, which Universal Studio's turned into classics which defined
the horror genre for decades to follow, the film to receive the most sequels
(apart from 'Dracula') has got to be 'Frankenstein.'
This figure is based upon what most argue is the best of the sequels, namely,
"Son Of Frankenstein."
This has got to be one of the best 'Frankenstein' figures I've seen.
Every little detail is perfect. Especially the head, it truly captures the
essence of Boris Karloff (who played 'The Monster'). The dead, staring eyes,
the blank expressionless face that though seemingly looks straight at you,
shows no sign of recognition.
The neck bolts too look so real that I was almost tempted to hook them up to
the mains, stick some electricity through them and see if I could give 'The
Monster' life.
The clothes are of the same quality, they fit how they should and look just
like they did in the film.
The base that comes for the figure to stand upon is the standard cobblestone
path. My only gripe is the size of it, it's so small that only one foot can
be placed onto it to make it stand. As long as the figure is stood straight,
then there's no problem, try posing him however and you run into problems as
he falls over like a drunk in a bar. But that's only a small niggle and nothing
to shout about. All it takes is some gentle "leaning" at slightly different
angles and you can get away with most poses.
As usual with Sideshow Collectables figures, he is very articulated so you
can let your imaginations run wild on how you pose him (or play with him).
Again, as has become the standard with Sideshow Collectables figures, the
figure wouldn't be complete without a couple of extra accessories.
For this particular figure, lifted straight from the film it's based upon,
are a very authentic looking prosthetic arm and a 'book of fairy tales.'
Even though in the running order of films I personally prefer the original
version of 'The Monster,' this version as I have said matches the look of
the version it's based upon perfectly in every detail.
So, if you're a fan of 'The Monster,' or even if you're just a horror figure
collector, this one need to be at the top of your "to buy" list.
