Welcome to one of the main features of 'Castle Dracula,' the movie reviews section.
The reviews placed here are from all around the world, from the USA to the UK Japan
and everything inbetween. The formats reviewed are video and DVD. I have included the
origin of the film reviewed so you can check your player for compatibility. You may
also notice that there are some DVD-R reviews. These are not 'bootlegs' or 'copies'
but official screeners that I have been sent containing an as yet unreleased film to
review. All the reviews here have been reviewed either by myself or my current movie
reviewers. If you're an avid watcher of horror movies then why not join 'Castle Dracula'
as an official 'staff member' reviewing them. To do so, just click on the 'Join My Staff'
link in the menu to the left for details of this and other vacancies.
New reviews are normally placed here once a week, check my front page for under 'Castle
Dracula Updates' to see what latest movie reviews have been placed.
- Bride of Chucky - UK DVD -
As much as I love Chucky, I just can't help but think if I ever bumped into
him on a cold, dark night, instead of screaming in terror at the sight of him
like they do in the movie franchise, I'd just stick my boot up his ass and
launch the dumb piece of plastic into orbit.
What's so damn scary about an oversized action man with a flick knife.
Except this time, he's got his girlfriend trapped into a doll and brought her
along to join in the carnage.
Finally, with this latest movie, someone sees it from my point of view.
This movie doesn't go for all out horror as the other 3 did, but goes for some
(sick) comedy.
There are some brilliant one liners and "in jokes" as long as you know your
horror movies.
For instance, without giving away too much, a victim gets a full face of nails
and ends up looking like "Pinhead" from the "Hellraiser" series.
Chucky looks at Tiffany (the oversized "Barbie doll" with a flick knife) and
says "Why does that look so damn familiar?", in reference to "Pinhead".
The gore comes thick and fast as well as the gags but it's the extra's that
make this film stand out.
Apart from the theatrical trailer, cast and crew information and production
notes, we have excerpts from Jennifer (Tiffany, the oversized, deranged "Barbie")
Tilly on location diary, a history of Chucky, a photo library, an introduction
by Jennifer Tilly, an audio commentary from director Ronny Yu, a second audio
commentary from screen writer Don Mancini, Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly
and finally a short film entitled "Chucky and Tiffany Do London - International
Murder and Mayhem".
There was to be a fifth film in the series, "Son Of Chucky", in which after
Tiffany gives birth to a baby "Chucky" (see this film to understand what I'm
on about), Chucky was going to teach it the family tradition, it was set to
be another "sick comedy".
But, embarrased by this movie's success, the film company involved dropped
all involvement so the film had to be shelved before it even got started.
But!
There looks to be another "Child's Play" type of sequel.
"Freddie Vs Chucky", as in Freddie Krueger.
It's not known yet if this will happen after or before the "Freddie Vs Jason"
film or even, maybe related to it in someway, but it looks set to happen.
When you watch "Bride Of Chucky", at the beginning, the cop is looking through
all the various stacks of murder weopans and evidence, keep your eyes peeled,
you'll see amongst other famous "movie villains" Freddie Krueger's glove.
A hint towards a possibility of a "Freddie Vs Chucky" film" perhaps?
Just remember what I said earlier Freddie, "just stamp on the plastic little
swine".
